Benjamin Wilson reports that an adult female Oregon Junco was found yesterday by Jared Wilson near his grandmother's feeders in Sherman Township. The attached photos were taken by Lucy Wilson. An adult male's head would be fully black, but the brownish flecking on the rear crown and nape indicates a female. Oregon Juncos are a western subspecies of Dark-eyed Junco that is rarely seen in Mason County (and surrounding counties).
