Common Fungi of Northern Michigan - 6:30 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 2019 Ludington City Hall

Next week's Sable Dunes Audubon Society meeting promises to be especially interesting. Partnering with A Few Friends of the Environment of the World (AFFEW), Sable Dunes Audubon Society will be welcoming Linda Scribner as she presents a workshop about the common mushrooms and fungi that can be found in northern Michigan.

Thursday's program will run from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. and will be held at the Ludington City Hall Community Room at 400 S. Harrison, Ludington, MI. A social hour with refreshments will begin at 6:00 p.m.

From the promotional flyer: "As a child, Linda collected morels and other edible mushrooms with her parents, but in recent years she has studied and taken photos of the many species we have in our area. Using her photographs, 2000 fresh and dried specimens, and numerous handouts, she will explain some simple mushroom biology and what things to look for when identifying species."

"Linda, a Certified Mushroom Expert with the State of Michigan, will conclude her presentation with the identification of the 20 species of mushrooms that the State of Michigan has deemed safe to eat in its Food Safety Program."
